Coronet 1960s Orange Pink Wool Mod Shift Dress Made in Germany UK 8–10

Description

Original late-1960s Coronet wool shift dress in a fabulous burnt orange and hot pink colour combination.

Made in Germany from pure wool, with a graphic pink and orange diamond-knit panel across the front bodice. The rest of the dress is a warm orange wool fabric, finished with long sleeves, a ribbed round neckline and four small pink square buttons along the lowered front seam.

It has a classic fitted mod shape, sitting close through the upper body before falling into a straight skirt. Fastens with a long centre-back zip and is fully lined in orange.

The label reads Coronet, Reine Wolle and Made in Germany. Labelled German 40 / British 38 / French 42 / Italian 44, though the measurements are much smaller than a present-day UK 38. Based on the 34-inch chest, it is likely to suit around a modern UK 8-10, depending on preferred fit.

The dress sits above the knee on an average-height wearer, with the exact length depending on height and body proportions.

There is a tiny hole or fabric break on the lower front section. It is small and does not stop the dress being worn, though it should be visible and disclosed. The lining is in good condition. There is light overall surface discolouration/greying to the wool in places, consistent with age and use. (See photos). The original back zip is a little stiff with age but remains functional.

A proper statement mod piece for vintage fairs, parties, exhibitions, festivals, creative events or colourful everyday dressing. It would look brilliant with pink tights, loafers, Mary Janes, boots or a bright structured handbag.
